Ketamine Assisted Therapy
Many people come to ketamine assisted therapy (KAP) when other treatments have not resulted in the relief that they hope for. Working alongside a psychiatric prescriber, I provide ketamine assisted therapy for people who are experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, and complex trauma. You will have a separate medical evaluation with a medical prescriber to make sure ketamine treatment is appropriate for you. Together, we will create a treatment plan to meet your needs.
KAP involves a commitment to multiple sessions. These include at least one session to help you prepare for your comfort and safety, set goals/intentions, and to allow us to develop a therapeutic alliance. You and the medical prescriber will determine individualized dosing and the number of medicine sessions appropriate for you. I will be with you during your dosing sessions. They are three hours in length and held in a treatment room designed for this purpose. I will provide eyeshades, pillows, blankets, and music playlists for your experience. In the days following your dosing session, we will schedule a therapy session to support your healing (these are called "integration" sessions).
Throughout this process, I will try to help you to feel safe and supported. I work from a relational and feminist approach and bring a social justice lens to the sessions. I often incorporate mindfulness and internal family systems approaches to support understanding and integration of your experiences. I received my certification to provide psychedelic assisted therapy from the Integrative Psychiatry Institute in partnership with MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies).
Although insurance will often cover the therapy sessions in preparation for and after your medicine sessions, insurance does not currently cover the medicine sessions themselves. We can discuss this and your other questions during a consultation call.
